SPACEFLIGHT PARTICIPANT SCREENING EXAMS

Dr. Jeffrey Dysart is approved by Virgin Galactic, LLC, to perform spaceflight participant screening exams.

The cost for this exam is $250.00. Please note: this is an administrative physical and is generally not covered by medical insurance. We are unable to bill your carrier for this service. You must pay in full prior to examination.

What to expect during your exam: Your vitals including height, weight and blood pressure will be checked. Measurements will be taken to assure proper fit of flight equipment. You will provide information about your medical history, current problems and medications. A brief physical exam will be performed to assess your overall physical health. Hearing and vision screening tests will be done. A urinalysis is performed.

An electrocardiogram (EKG) is required. This is a painless test that records the heart's electrical activity and gives an overview of your cardiac health. You will need to remove clothing from your upper body. Electrodes (small, sticker-like patches) will be attached to your skin. Hair may need to be shaved from your chest in order for the electrodes to stick directly to the skin. A recording of your heart is taken while the electrodes are attached. Testing usually takes 10-15 minutes.

All examination findings will be uploaded to Virgin Galactic for their evaluation of your medical fitness.
